Latest Report

CAMHS and dual diagnosis

Extra challenges borne by young people with a mental health need who are either autistic or experiencing addiction or substance abuse are of particular concern to the Committee. Meaningful measures must immediately be introduced in this respect, particularly as autistic people and those with substance abuse issues are more vulnerable to suicide.

Scrutiny

Autism Spectrum Disorder Bill 2017

The Committee welcomes many of the objectives of this Bill and agrees that the autistic community and wider disabled community have been underserved for a long time; however, there are significant concerns about parts of the proposed legislation and as a consequence, the Committee decided not to recommend that the Bill proceed to Committee Stage.
